The benefits of using Easywax/Optimum SE
Having to retain the working lifespan of the timber moulds is a particularly important aspect as the attrition which occurs when the concrete is released from the mould can scarify and eventually de-laminate the form face.
The combination of Easywax/Optimum SE is proving effective in greatly increasing the life of the moulds and reducing cleaning times for re-setting.
How Easywax/Optimum SE was used
Easywax in this instance is hand applied by cloth with a thin layer that sets across the face. Small nail indentations are therefore covered up and a uniform standard absorbency panel is created.
About 1 ½ hrs drying time is sufficient before release agent – in this case ‘Optimum SE’ – can be applied in a light spray. Optimum SE has the added advantage of being WRAS approved should any units be used near water courses.
The operator comfort levels are also enhanced with the use of this biodegradable product. The producers have also commented on the improvement in surface finish with less incidence of blow-holes.
Further down the line, choices can be made on selection of timber as some of the overlaid boards WISA/Pourform are premium priced.
Opus Easywax can help replicate a finish on good one side ply which bears comparison to more expensive overlaid timber.
